PostHeaderIcon New storage on the way.

In prep for my CPU coming Monday, I decided to order up 4 more 1.5TB Sammy Spinpoint drives. This way I can toss them on the areca RAID card, format them out RAID 5 and migrate my current data set off to them.

Of course theis will then allow me to reallocate the existing 4 1.5TB drives into the areca card, format them RAID 5 and add those to my new "SAN" volume I'll be building on OpenFiler.

Currently my volume set is...

nas    -  4x 1.5TB drives configured in a stripe

stor   -  2x 500GB drives configured in a stripe

bckup-  1x 80GB drive

The new layout will be....

san    - 8x 1.5TB drives in 2 4 drive RAID 5 sets (I would rather RAID 6 all 8, but I don't have enough of a staging space)

stor   - TBD for now still 2x 500GB, this data may move over to san

bckup- TBD I'd like to take the 2x500GB's and mirror them to make a new bckup volume for VM and other backups.

PostHeaderIcon TYAN TomCat S2865G2NR

My new Tomcat came today. Time to start re-rebuilding the primary file server. I was able to find a new in box TYAN TomCat S2865G2NR to replace my failing Tomcat from my original file server.

I hope to wrap this all up tonight, as I've been with out my primary file server for a week now... It's driving me crazy having it sit up on my living room flloor.

PostHeaderIcon Well.. in comes the towel!

After finally giving up on the MSI 790FX-GD70 motherboard trying to get it to work with OpenFiler 2.3 I decided to utilize my old TYAN TomCat S2865G2NR.

Good news?

Well the board see the areca RAID controller as just that, I was affriad plugging it into the "graphics" port as labled by the instructions that it wouldn't recognize another style of card.

Bad news?

I some how huffed the board in the process of moving it around so much in the system swap =/ So I had to order a replacement TYAN TomCat S2865G2NR (for a darn $120...)

Sad being that it's an older board.

It should arrive in the next couple of days and begin the build... again. This thing has fought me EVERY step of the way.

PostHeaderIcon Gallery updated

I finally made it around to "fixing" the Gallery. It's now embeded inside the main theme.

The steps I had to take..

Originally the gallery was hosted under http://gallery.crackedconsole.com/ this caused the iFrame javascript "Auto Height" function to fail as it was calling a cross domain webpage. I've moved the gallery under http://crackedconsole.com/gallery .

You can still access it via http://gallery.crackedconsole.com/ due to a redirection script I put in place. I may eventually shut this down, but for now it will stay.

I can't tell you how happy I am to finally mark this off the list!

PostHeaderIcon Rebuilding the file server

Well I finally got all my hardware, and I've begun the file server rebuild!

My friends at NewEgg delivered!

A slew of goodie goodies!

Almost ready to go live!

More can be found in the Gallery, Hardware and Forums section!

PostHeaderIcon Arcade plans added

I've added 8 arcade plans / blueprints to the download section. The Lusid plans are what I used to build my cabinet, my control panel has since been rebuilt (larger).

You can also find a table top pacman style arcade cab and a centipede replica among others.

You can find the plans under the downloads section (direct link)

As I find plans around the web I'll add them to the downloads, so check back often.

If you have arcade plans you wish to submit, please email Palmore at good'ole crackedconsole.com.
