PostHeaderIcon Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays and all that jazz.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun filled Holiday Season, and gets all they asked Santa for ;)

What does this Holiday weekend bring for Crackedconsole?

Well I think I'm going to spend the extended weekend, reracking my equiptment. This includes retiring the Del Power Edge 2550's / moving the 740 into the rack / adding my new battery backup systems to the rack / running all new ethernet.

So expect down time during this work.

I'm also picking up 2 new 1.5TB Samsung Echo Green drives for my file server, I'm currently out of space =/ so time to grow that puppy another 3TB eh? ;)

PostHeaderIcon Arcade Upgrade

I finally broke down and tossed a new video card in the ol' Arcade.

I was running an ATI 9650ViVO in it prior. The computer in my bedroom that I used to use for gaming is currently down (sadly i'm using a Dell Optiplex GX260 in it's place... no more gamin in the bedroom). Good news is.... I could pull out the video card and RAM to upgrade the Arcade!

I ended up with an extra 512MB in the Arcade putting it to 1GBG again finally. And yes i know RAM is cheap... well it hasn't been on the top of my list recently, but I do plan on replacing the current RAM and getting a nice 2GB kit.

The video card I upgraded to is a Sapphire HD 2600XT (ATI Radeon), a decent step up from the card I was running.

Sapphire HD 2600XT

As for the new games.....

Street Fighter 4 - Now works! I have the Resolution chopped down to 800x600, AA off, and most effects truned down to low or medium. (avg. 56fps)

Need for Speed Shift - NSF Shift loads, but I haven't taken any time to really mess with it. All the new racings games I'm kinda really waiting till I build the racing cabs before I dive more into them.

Dirt 2 - Same thing as NSF Shift, it now loads and I only played it for a second to make sure it ran.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008 - Looks great! Thanks to the new card I was able to beef up the settings (I'm still hooked on this game, it's amazing playing on my Happ 3inch Trackball)

Arcade hardware has been updated / Arcade hardware picture gallery has been added

PostHeaderIcon New games added to the Arcade

I tossed some new games on the Arcade this past week.

Street Fighter 4 (I sadly can't get this game to work, crappy video card...)

NBA 2k10

Need for Speed Shift (Same issue as SF4???)

Dirt 2

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008

So far I've only gotten Tiger Woods to work correctly with the Arcade, and wow.... what a great game with a track ball!

I downloaded Xbox260cemu to get SF4 working, since it can't support 2 players on 1 keyboard. The controller emulator worked great, sadly I still can't get SF4 to run due to video limitations.

I did some research into controller emulation and came across PPJoy... What a GREAT tool. I now use this to get Virtual Tennis working on my cab, and I plan on reviewing the games installed and games I wanted to install and see if I can put this new toy to use some more.

PostHeaderIcon Work called... I answered.

My friends and I at work landed the Desert portion of our Christmas I.T. pot luck. It was a bake-off as well as a presentation competition.

Me not being one to cook, looked to several of my co-workers and their wonderous abilities in the kitchen. While I handled the presentation portion.

What started as scrap wood, some lights and pillow stuffing...

evolved into...

This BEAST of a Desert table!

We had plenty of desert goodies for everyone in I.T.

We did end up taking First Place for presentation, and one team member got First Place for best dish (Cookies and chocolates).

More Pics in the Gallery, Enjoy =)

And Merry Christmas!

PostHeaderIcon Forums added, and Hardware updated

I've added a Forums / project log section finally. I'll be updating information on my old projects, including a dump of an old forum for my xbox projects.

This section will house my how-to, walk-thrus and tips. I will try and tie them back to my gallery as well, for picture updates etc. This may prove to be hard for my XBox projects, but I'll see what I can do... Theres well over 100 XBox project pics as well as over 100 pages of forum thread to read thru to pull out my posts.

I've also updated the hardware section for the Arcade and Car Computer to include links to a majority of the hardware, devices and modules used in each project. These links will take you to either the manufactures webpage, or NewEgg (or otherwise) to order and or research the products used in my projects.
